Goin’ HD

(Sung to the tune of “Happy Birthday to You”)

Happy Birthday to me. Happy Father’s Day to me. Happy, er, Labor Daaaaay to meeeeeeeee.

Anyway…

I casually mentioned a great deal that Costco.com is having on the Westinghouse LVM-37w3 37″ HDTV LCD TV and the next thing I know, it has become a multi-occasion, multi-participant gift from my parents, wife and son. Go figure.

Check out the specs:

  • Contrast Ratio: 1000:1
  • Brightness: 550 cd/m2
  • Response Time: 8 ms
  • HDTV Compatibility: 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p
  • PC Compatibility: 1920 x 1080, 640 x 480, 800 x 600, 1024 x 768

Inputs/Outputs:

  • HDMI x1
  • Component Video x2
  • S-Video x1
  • Composite Video x1
  • DVI x1
  • VGA/D-Sub x1

I’ve found nothing but great first-hand user reviews for it. Just as importantly, I’ve found prices ranging from $1,124 to $1,425 – and Costco.com is selling it for $799! (Only until June 15)

It should be here in time for Father’s Day. Or my birthday. Either way, I’m excited.

Thanks, everyone!

(Now, I just need an upscaling DVD player, a Dual-Format HD-DVD/Blu-Ray player, HD service from Comcast, an Apple TV, hmmm…) đŸ˜‰

  1. Yeah, I guess that’s a good point, especially for when the HD-DVD / Blu-Ray war is over and I’m going to want to connect multiple HDMI devices.I’ll worry about it then. Perhaps I can get a box to switch between HDMI inputs or something…-jf.
