LiveEarth.org: "Green Hosted"

While I was watching the Live Earth concert, I did wonder about all the power required to broadcast the HD signal, power the SMS promotions and even host the web sites and the impact that the event itself had on the environment. Given the message of the event, it was hard not to.

While exploring the Live Earth web site, I discovered this pleasing little tidbit:

LIVE EARTH'S GREEN HOSTING

AISO.Net is the only 100% solar powered data center in the world. We have been serving clients worldwide for 10 years. Our specialty is web site hosting and suppling dedicated servers for our clients applications. We are currently the only public data center that is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council and was featured in Inc. Magazines' Top 50 Green Companies. Solar panels power our office and data center. Our data center was built to environmentally friendly standards using 100% recycled products when ever possible. All network and server hardware is fully redundant with 24x7-automated systems monitoring to ensure the highest possible uptime. Using solar panels to power our data center and network, AISO.Net is the first and only 100% completely solar powered web hosting company providing web site hosting, e-commerce, domain name registration, dedicated servers and co-locate servers. Proving our commitment to be the best, most reliable eco-friendly hosting company in the world. We are doing everything we can do to be totally responsible and being the industry leader in environmental web hosting. We are very excited about our membership in the U.S. Green Building Council, showing the world that AISO.Net truly cares about our environment.

Pretty cool. I wonder if they offer shared hosting? ;)

UPDATE: They do!
