The Dark Side of Consumer Generated Media...

...is bandwidth. Not the download speed, but the upload.

Sending a 77 MB Quicktime movie to YouTube or Google Video is just painful when your upload speed is choked off at 384 KBPS.

I'm a Speakeasy DSL customer and love their service, so I contacted them to see what they could do for me. Given the distance of my home from the Central Office, the best they can give me is an upload speed of 768 KBPS for an additional $30 a month.

That's double the upload speed that I currently have, so I shouldn't complain...but I want FIOS!

*sigh*
